This week on Craft Beer Republic, we’re taking you straight to Denver for a special taproom conversation with one of Colorado’s most respected brewers. Greg packed up the mics and headed to Our Mutual Friend Brewing Company(aka OMF) for a sit-down with Jan Chodkowski, head brewer and co-owner.

We kicked things off the best way possible — with a fresh lineup of OMF beers. We’re talking their crisp and perfectly balanced Keller Pils poured right from the lager tank, the sunshine-in-a-glass Sunny Kölsch, the dangerously drinkable Stingray Jesus West Coast IPA, the pillowy-soft Neon Nail Hazy IPA, and a silky Southern English Brown Alebrewed in collaboration with Fort George and Ephemeral Taproom.

Jan shares the full arc of his brewing story, from early days with High Life in hand, to working his way up from the OMF taproom to head brewer and co-owner. We dig into why OMF puts such a strong focus on Colorado-grown malt and hops, what it means to brew beers they actually want to drink, and why they’d rather stick to their own style than chase trends. We also get into the fun stuff — collaborations, the evolving Denver beer scene, and even a few experiments with NA beer, hop water, and the occasional seltzer.

Outside the brewhouse, Jan talks about OMF’s community involvement, from partnering with nonprofits to creating Pride merch that supports local LGBTQ+ organizations. And, because it wouldn’t be a Craft Beer Republic episode without a little extra fun, we wrap things up with a rapid-fire round covering guilty pleasure beers, dream beer trips, and his go-to hangover cure.

Whether you’re a beer nerd, a Denver local, or just curious about what makes OMF such a standout in Colorado craft beer, this is an episode you’ll want to crack a cold one and enjoy.
